| The Campaign For Mona's Retirement To A Sanctuary |
| Mona is the Birmingham Zoo's remaining Asian Elephant. Her companion, Susie died on January 31, 2005. They were companions for fifty years. Mona's loss is now said to be expressed in her behavior. After 50 years of confined service to the citizens of greater Birmingham, Alabama, the time has come to respect Mona's social and physical needs, by allowing her to retire to an elephant sanctuary. |
